Attend an Open House to Learn More About Our Schools

If your child will be starting preschool or kindergarten next fall, we invite you to visit one or more of our elementary schools when they host their winter open house. It's your opportunity to talk with school staff and learn more about the opportunities available at each of our schools. On-site registration will take place during these events for families who are ready to enroll.

Centennial Elementary School (PreK-5)

Centennial is a small neighborhood school serving all Richfield households east of Nicollet Avenue.

  • This is your opportunity for you (and your child!) to come see Centennial and talk with our principal, teachers, staff and families. Centennial Elementary values all cultures and considers its diversity to be a strength.

Richfield Dual Language School (PreK-5)

Richfield Dual Language School is a magnet school that teaches in both English and Spanish.

  • The Spanish dual-language program allows students to become bilingual and biliterate while mastering Spanish and English. Spanish is spoken 90 percent of the instructional day in PreK, kindergarten and first-grade classrooms.
  • Research-proven methods are used to teach languages at a high level while instructing academic content. 
  • Highly-qualified and fully bilingual staff have diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
  • No previous background in Spanish is required upon a student’s enrollment into PreK or Kindergarten.

Sheridan Hills Elementary School (PreK-5)

Sheridan Hills is a small neighborhood school serving Richfield households west of Nicollet Avenue and continuing west into parts of Edina.

School Highlights

  • At Sheridan Hills, we focus on the whole child to build confidence, develop creative and critical thinking skills, and achieve great academic growth.
  • We will start with a brief presentation at 5:40 p.m. and then move down to the classrooms where children can experience the kindergarten and PreK rooms, and parents and families can talk with staff and current Sheridan Hills parents.
  • Smaller class sizes provide in-depth and personalized learning experiences for students, and enable staff to focus on ensuring student success at every level.

Richfield STEM Elementary (PreK-5)

Richfield STEM Elementary is a magnet school focusing on integrating science, technology, engineering and math education.

School Highlights

  • Our focus is educating students through a science, technology, engineering and math lens.
  • This STEM approach partners with the district-adopted curriculum to ensure students are receiving a strong foundation in all content areas while preparing them for future opportunities in STEM. 
  • We are a Google school that utilizes Chromebooks (including a tablet version) for students to express and share their learning. Technology is embedded into the regular classroom along with a specialist class that is provided on a regular basis.

Central Education Center (Preschool & PreK Only)

The Central Education Center is home to a free prekindergarten program as well as fee-based preschool programs.

Program Highlights

  • We are committed to preparing your child for success by supporting their intellectual, emotional and social development needs in a positive and nurturing environment.
  • We provide a play-based developmentally appropriate curriculum, and our programs are Four-Star Parent Aware rated. 
  • We offer preschool and prekindergarten programs for children 3 and 4 years old.
