Learn More About Our Schools

If your child will be starting preschool or kindergarten next fall, we invite you to visit one or more of our elementary schools when they host their new family open house. It's your opportunity to talk with school staff and learn more about the opportunities available at each of our schools. On-site registration will take place during these events for families who are ready to enroll.

  • Jan. 18 - Centennial Elementary, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 19 - Sheridan Hills Elementary, 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Jan. 20 - Richfield Dual Language School, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 25 - Central Education Center, 4:30-6 p.m.
  • Jan. 27 - Richfield STEM Elementary, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Centennial Elementary School

Centennial is a small neighborhood school serving all Richfield households east of Nicollet Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

School Highlights

  • Drop in at any time, there's plenty to do! There will be activities for everyone in the gym, art room, music room and our makerspace.
  • Snacks will also be provided in the cafeteria, as well as a photo booth and a game with prizes to take home!
  • This is your opportunity for you (and your child!) to come see Centennial and talk with our teachers, staff and families. Centennial Elementary values all cultures and considers its diversity to be a strength.
  • With an 11:1 student to staff ratio, small class sizes provide in-depth and personalized learning experiences for students, and enable staff to focus on ensuring student success at every level.
  • In accordance with District policy, face masks are required.

Sheridan Hills Elementary

Sheridan Hills is a small neighborhood school serving Richfield households west of Nicollet Avenue and continuing west into parts of Edina.

Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 5:30-7 p.m.

School Highlights

  • At Sheridan Hills, we focus on the whole child to build confidence, develop creative and critical thinking skills, and achieve great academic growth.
  • We will start with a brief presentation at 5:40 p.m. and then move down to the classrooms where children can experience the kindergarten and PreK rooms, and parents and families can talk with staff and current Sheridan Hills parents.
  • Small class sizes provide in-depth and personalized learning experiences for students, and enable staff to focus on ensuring student success at every level.

Richfield Dual Language School

Richfield Dual Language School is a magnet school that teaches in both English and Spanish.

Open House

Thursday, Jan. 20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • The presentation will be in English and Spanish.
  • Face masks are required and social distancing will be encouraged.
  • Agenda
    • 5:15 p.m. doors open
    • 5:30 p.m. principal's welcome and presentation 
    • 6-6:40 p.m. classroom tours
    • 6:40-7:30 p.m. registration time for families ready to enroll (If possible, please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate and their immunization records.)
  • Pre-registration is not required. If you have any questions, please call 612-798-6702.

  • The Spanish dual-language program allows students to become bilingual and bicultural while mastering Spanish and English.
  • Research-proven methods are used to teach languages at a high level while instructing academic content.

Richfield STEM Elementary

Richfield STEM Elementary is a magnet school focusing on integrating science, technology, engineering and math education.

  • Our focus is educating students through a science, technology, engineering and math lens.
  • This STEM approach partners with the district-adopted curriculum to ensure students are receiving a strong foundation in all content areas while preparing them for future opportunities in STEM. 
  • 13:1 student to staff ratio.

Central Education Center

The Central Education Center is home to a free prekindergarten program as well as fee-based preschool programs.

Program Highlights

  • We are committed to preparing your child for success by supporting their intellectual, emotional and social development needs in a positive and nurturing environment. We provide a play-based developmentally appropriate curriculum, and our programs are Four-Star Parent Aware rated.
  • We offer preschool programs for children 3 and 4 years old. Additionally, our free prekindergarten program is for children who are 4 years old.
