Mr. Juan Figueroa

I was born in Colombia, and the region where I lived features prairies, ranches, and cowboys. My love of teaching brought me to the U.S. Within a few years of teaching kindergarden at RDLS, I became a U.S. citizen. Yoga and meditation are disciplines that I try to make a part of each day. For exercise, I enjoy biking and hiking. I enjoy nature and I am interested in environmental issues around the world. I play guitar and cuatro, which is a national instrument from Venezuela. All of my family lives in Colombia, except a cousin, who lives in Savage, MN. I learned how much I love this state from teaching Minnesota history in sixth grade at RMS.

Growing up, we raised sheep on our farm so I know how to bottle feed lambs and shear sheep. In my case, the song "Mary Had a Little Lamb" fits.

I am excited to join the Richfield team! I just moved from New Orleans in order to be closer to family. I'm excited to learn with our immensely diverse community. I am also accepting any best practices of how a Southern girl can survive winter.
