Weather-Related School and Program Closings

With the onset of winter weather, we want to remind you about our process for announcing weather-related school closings. 

School Days

  • The Superintendent and District leaders will make the decision to delay or close school no later than 5 a.m. 
  • We will announce this information on Facebook and our website by 5:30 a.m. 
  • Families and staff will be notified via email and text message by 5:45 a.m. through ParentSquare. Phone calls may also be sent.
  • All local news sources will be notified. 
  • The decision to cancel school vs. e-learning will be made based on multiple factors, including the anticipated duration of the weather-related closure, the number of missed school days already taken, etc. 

After School

  • The Superintendent and District leaders will make the decision to cancel afternoon programs no later than 11 a.m. 
  • We will announce these cancellations on Facebook and our website by 11:45 a.m. 
  • Families and staff will be notified via email and text message through ParentSquare. Phone calls may also be sent.
  • All local news sources will be notified.  

Weekends

  • The Superintendent and District leaders will make the decision to cancel weekend programs no later than 5 a.m. that day.
  • We will announce these cancellations on Facebook and our website by 5:30 a.m. 
  • Only individuals registered for Community Education programs and students/families with athletic events will be personally notified.

Update Your Contact Information

  • Make sure you receive information on school delays or closures by updating your contact information in ParentVUE
  • Ensure your ParentSquare notifications and language preferences are set the way you want them. Please note, however, that in the event we are closing school (or have other urgent communication), we will override delivery preferences to ensure everyone is notified in a timely manner.
