Updated Process for Public Comments at RPS School Board

Updated Process for Public Comments at RPS School Board

Effective this week, we have updated the process for signing up to make a public comment at a school board meeting.

To sign up for public comment, you will need to complete this online form by noon on the day of the board meeting.

  • You can find the form on our District website either by going to the school board page and looking in the public comment section, or by opening the calendar event for a school board meeting with public comment (public comment will continue to be offered at one board meeting per month, typically the second meeting).
  • If you are unable to complete the online form, you may contact Board Secretary Cassandra Quam at 612-798-6012 or cassandra.quam@rpsmn.org by noon on the day of the board meeting.

Other changes include:

  • If multiple people plan to address the board on the same subject, they may be asked to select a representative to speak for the group.
  • Personal attacks and disruption of the board meeting are not acceptable. Any individual who persists in these behaviors after being warned may be asked to leave the premises.

For detailed information on public comment, please review Policy 216: Public Comment and Administrative Guideline 216.1.

If you are wondering what topics will be covered at an upcoming board meeting, watch for the agenda to be posted in the board calendar. This usually occurs the Wednesday before the board meeting.

2023 graduate holding diploma

The Minnesota Department of Education released the 2023 graduation rates. We are excited to share that we have made consistent gains in many areas and that Richfield High School’s four-year graduation rate (94.1%) exceeds the statewide graduation rate of 83.3% by 10.8 percentage points.
