Fall Athletic Information

Fall Athletic Information

We are looking forward to fall sports starting soon! Many of our athletes worked throughout the summer at Spartan Power, summer leagues, and open gyms. Before the fall practices officially begin, we wanted to send you a message with details regarding registrations, schedules and more.

Important Dates

  • Tuesday, August 1. Fall athletic registration opens for our high school teams.
  • Monday, August 14. Fall athletic practices start with our coaching staff for RHS teams. Please check team Schoology pages for more information about captains practice the week before.
  • Monday, August 21. Fall athletic registration opens for our middle school (6-8) teams.
  • Tuesday, August 22, 7-8 p.m. A mandatory parent/player/coach meeting for all athletes on a C, B, JV or Varsity level team in the RHS auditorium.
  • Thursday, September 7. All RMS sports start. All athletes should report to the RMS cafeteria after school. There will be a brief meeting and an opportunity to meet coaches and receive schedules. Practice for registered athletes will last until 5 p.m.

Registrations

All registrations are done online through SchoolPay, our district’s online payment portal. All athletes must have completed the registration process to practice, tryout or compete. This includes: MSHSL forms, a current health physical, Sport Specific Registration Form and payment.

The Activities Office must have a current sports qualifying physical on file before you can register online at www.schoolpay.com. Sports qualifying physicals are good for three years. If your physical has expired or if you don’t have one on file, here are a few options:

  • Visit your medical provider or clinic.
  • Stop by a Minute Clinic location at Target or CVS.
  • Go to the Richfield Health Resource Center (RHRC) any Monday or Wednesday between 1-5 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Call 612-798-6020 for more info. There is no charge for a physical at the RHRC.

If our office has a physical on file, please follow these instructions to complete the registration process.

  1. Apply online for education benefits (previously known as the free and reduced-price lunch application) at schoolcafe.com/RICHFIELDPUBLICSD. If you receive reduced educational benefits, your fees will automatically be reduced by 25%. If you receive free educational benefits, your fees will automatically be reduced by 50%. If you see your fees are not automatically reduced during checkout, please contact our office at athletics@rpsmn.org.
  2. Log into www.schoolpay.com.
  3. Select “Fall Registrations” and complete the 2023-2024 MSHSL forms and add them to your cart, process form payment of $0.
  4. Next, click the SchoolPay banner at the top of the page and go into Fall Registrations, all activities available for your child’s grade will appear. You may need to refresh the page if they don’t appear right away.
  5. Select your activity, process payment and you will receive a receipt confirming that your registration is complete.

We never want finances to be a reason a student doesn’t participate. Payment plans and scholarships are available to all students, regardless of educational benefits. Students registering for an activity or sport who cannot pay their registration fee in full may request a reduced fee for economic hardship. As stated in Board Policy 781.1, all requests will be reviewed, and additional documentation may be requested. Please email athletics@rpsmn.org so we can help create a plan that works for your family.

More information about all sports offered throughout the year are available on the Athletics page of our website. Here is a list of fall sports available to Richfield students and the start date with our coaching staff:

Handbook

Richfield Athletic and Competitive Activities Handbook is a great resource for athletes and parents to read about important policies and guidelines. This handbook includes information on eligibility, MN State High School League Policies and lots of other important information.

Competitive Schedule

Game Schedules are available at Tri-Metro Conference Schedules. If there are any changes due to weather or cancellations, this schedule will be updated first. We encourage all parents to subscribe to the “Notify Me” option so they are alerted to any schedule changes.

Delivering on our promises: It's time to renew

We have two questions on the ballot in November. Question #1 renews the existing technology levy and Question #2 replaces our current operating levy. Learn more about how they support student learning and where you can vote.

A certificate recognizing Richfield High School for making the AP Honor Roll

Richfield High School was named to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll, which recognizes schools with AP programs that are delivering results and broadening access for students.

centennial volunteers

In our ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety during arrival and dismissal, we are working with the City of Richfield to install a “demonstration project” along 73rd Street near Centennial Elementary School. If you drive to pick up or drop-off your child, please use extra caution during this time.

Best High Schools US News and World Report 2023-24

We are proud to announce that Richfield High School has been awarded a place on the "Best Public High Schools 2023-24" list by U.S. News and World Report! We ranked 62 out of 927 Minnesota high schools, placing us well within the top 10% in the state.

Students in class making peace signs

We believe that all students should experience academic rigor and a pace that is challenging but doable. This is what makes our Talent Development program different from a traditional Gifted and Talented model.

Student using a computer

Technology helps level the playing field for students who learn differently. Features like closed-captioning, voice-to-text and the ability to record voice and video are all readily available and support all learners.

summer school students

Our elementary summer program was a success! Students enjoyed learning, playing games and participating in exciting, hands-on activities. As students explored and learned, they also built lasting connections with their teachers and peers, making the summer both educational and fun-filled.
