Senior Stories: Leslie Straub

Senior Stories: Leslie Straub

“Leslie can be quiet in class, but don't be fooled. She is a fearless leader. She steps up and helps other students and is even able to do so bilingually,” says her teacher, Ms. Toedter. “Leslie is an extremely hard worker and is never afraid to ask questions to further her learning. It is apparent that she cares deeply for others, and she is always kind and helpful inside and outside of the classroom.”

That kindness is something her friends notice, too. They describe Leslie as caring and charismatic. An RHS cheerleader who loves spending time with her family and friends, Leslie dreams of becoming a dental hygienist and plans to attend the Dental Hygiene program at Normandale Community College. “I know I can achieve my goals because I never give up, I am always pushing myself forward and I have a positive attitude,” explains Leslie.

Leslie attended kindergarten in Mexico before moving here with her family and attending Richfield Dual Language School. “My family really supports the decisions I make and they're always there for me. I love them so much!” says Leslie.

When asked what she is most proud of, Leslie says “I am proud of myself for becoming a better person and bettering myself daily, especially during high school. I have gone through many rough paths in my life and I have always overcome them by having a positive attitude. I am also proud of that.”

“I love school because I can learn new things every day and hang out with my friends as well,” she says, adding that “my favorite class this year is culinary class because we get to cook foods from all around the world. I enrolled in this class because I enjoy cooking and I was very interested in trying foods from around the world.”

Her advice for freshmen: “Always get your work done on time and to take your freshman year seriously because it will affect the rest of your high school years if you do not pass a class. Also, another piece of advice I have is to not let drama get the best of you, stay focused on your goals to be the better person.”
