Senior Stories: Angel Sanchez

“Angel has been my T.A. in a French 1 class all year and he is so helpful and makes the class of mostly freshmen feel welcomed,” says Madame Steele. “He helps answer questions and encourages their work while being a role model with his leadership skills and grades. Since he was in ninth grade, Angel has been vital in creating community in our classroom and bringing laughter to every class.”

Angel plans to attend the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with a major in architecture and a minor in French. When asked about his dream job, he said: “Anything I enjoy, so it does not feel like work.” His plan for success is to make the most of all the opportunities available to him. 

In his spare time, Angel enjoys painting, playing music, hanging out with his friends and playing video games. During his time at RHS, he was involved with soccer, swimming & diving, track & field and student government. 

Angel’s favorite class this year was CIS Climate Crisis. “Although being full of lectures,” he explained, “the class and the material itself gives great insight to high school students about the impending danger the planet faces if we do not come together to stop global warming.”

He said that he enrolled in CIS: Climate Crisis because of the topic and the teacher. “I enjoy Mr. Brown as a teacher and it is a topic I am passionate about so it was the perfect fit,” he said. Madame Steele is another teacher that had a positive impact on him. “My favorite thing about school is the support I receive from teachers. Without the support, many of us would not be where we are today.” 

If Angel could travel anywhere in the world, he would choose Antarctica. “No one is allowed there, so I want to see if there’s anything hidden,” he joked. If he were to choose a year to travel to, past or future, he would choose one where space travel is easily accessible. 

Angel’s advice to freshmen is: “Take all the opportunities presented to you. Early to bed and early to rise, makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.”
