RHS Band Students Excel at Conference & University Honor Bands

RHS Band Students Excel at Conference & University Honor Bands

Over the past few weeks, Richfield High School band students have been active performers at several honor band events. The Tri-Metro Conference accepted a total of 11 RHS band students into the 2023 All-Conference Honor Band (up from five students in 2022). The full day of rehearsals and evening concert took place on Monday, Jan. 30, at Holy Angels. Congratulations to Harrison Cha, Isaiah Frazier, Ellie Gacek, George Illes, Kyle Lucero, Hunter Madison, Gwen Royster, Cameron Spencer, Kaylee Stracka, Jonas Taylor and Mathias Werner Marulanda (photo below) for their acceptance into this unique experience that led to an outstanding combined performance with other top student musicians from the Tri-Metro Conference.

On Sunday, Jan. 29, George Illes represented RHS at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Honor Band with select students from across the state and upper midwest region. George will also be representing RHS at the upcoming Minnesota Music Educators All State Band Concert on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis. Congratulations to George on these outstanding individual achievements and leadership in our program.

Finally, on Saturday, Feb. 4, three RHS ninth graders were selected to perform as members of the 2023 Augsburg University 9-10 Honor Band. Congratulations to Madeleine Pham, Angie Sikich and Frances Tronnes (photo below) on their wonderful performance.

climate crisis class with their solar suitcase

Richfield High School students in the yearlong Climate Crisis class are making a difference across the world — for the fourth year in a row! This semester, students finished putting together their “solar suitcase,” which was sent to Kenya last week to provide light to students at schools with no access to electricity.
