• Tryouts are early March.  
• Practice is 2-3 hours a day after school. 
• Games are 2-4 times a week depending on the weather.

Families need to provide:

• White helmet
• All-white pants (no piping)
• Cardinal socks
• Baseball glove
• Cleats

The Richfield Dugout Club supports the RHS baseball program through fundraising events and the operation of the concession stand. 

Concession Stand: Volunteers are needed to help with shifts for home games. The concession stand operates during April, May and June of the High School season and continues into the summer for the Legion season. All concession stand profits go directly to the Dugout Club for the support of the Richfield High School baseball teams. All parents are required to volunteer for a minimum of 2 concession stand shifts.

100 Inning Tournament: The players request sponsorships from friends and families for playing 100 innings. All RHS Baseball players are divided into four teams and play a series of 100 innings/games against each other.

Beginning this year, all athletic registration takes place through Bound. Families can also use Bound throughout the season to view schedules, purchase tickets and manage activities in one convenient place.

Step 2: Upload Your Sports Qualifying Physical

A current sports qualifying physical is required for all student-athletes. Sports physicals remain valid for three years.

Step 3: Complete Registration

Follow the prompts in Bound to register your student for their fall sport.

Step 4: Pay Your Activity Fee

Don't wait to register if you're still applying for educational benefits. Students may complete registration before payment is made. Families who qualify for educational benefits will receive reduced activity fees after uploading their approval letter to Bound.

If you are a student at one of our partner schools and would like to register for the Richfield Spartans Baseball team, please contact our athletics office at athletics@rpsmn.org or by calling 612-798-6132.

You can complete registration in Bound without paying the registration fee. However, the fee must be paid prior to the start of the season. If you are unable to pay the full amount, contact the Athletic and Competitive Activities Office for payment plan options. As a reminder, you will need to pay past due payment plan fees or make a minimum payment and submit a payment plan to participate.

If you are going to pay in cash or do a partial payment in the Athletic and Competitive Activities Office (located in Richfield High School), please complete the MSHSL forms and registration in Bound prior to coming to the Athletic and Competitive Activities Office.

We never want finances to be a reason why a student does not participate in a co-curricular opportunity! There are several options available to help.

• Payment Plans: Families can pay a minimum of $25 at registration and then pay the remaining balance during the season. 
• Reduced Fees: Students who receive educational benefits through the Minnesota Department of Education qualify for an automatic deduction in their registration fees. 
  • Students who qualify for reduced educational benefits receive a 25% deduction (discount) in fees.
  • Students who qualify for free educational benefits receive a 50% deduction in fees.
  • If you have not applied yet, we encourage all families to apply. You can apply for educational benefits here.
• Scholarships: Families who cannot pay their registration fee in full may request a reduced fee for economic hardship. All requests are reviewed by the Activities Office and additional documentation may be requested. Please email athletics@rpsmn.org so we can create a plan that works for your family.  

If you need a sports-qualifying physical, it is best to have your primary healthcare provider complete the exam because they are most aware of your health history. A second option is to go to your family’s health clinic. If you do not have a primary care physician or a family clinic, a third option is the Richfield Health Resource Center (RHRC) in Richfield High School. 

In August, RHRC is open Mondays from 1-5 p.m. As a reminder, the RHRC provides care on a first-come, first-served basis, and the beginning of each athletic season is a very busy time. Once the RHRC reaches patient capacity for an afternoon, patients are turned away. It is recommended that students get their sports-qualifying physical done before it is needed for Richfield athletics.

1. Download the Sports Qualifying Physical form before your appointment (English | Spanish).
2. It is important to complete page two of the form before attending your appointment, including a parent/guardian signature.
3. After your physical, it is your responsibility to upload a copy to your Bound account. Alternatively, you can send it to athletics@rpsmn.org, fax it to 612-798-6129, or bring it to the Athletic and Competitive Activities Office at Richfield High School or the Student Services Office at Richfield Middle School.
