783 Policy: Video Surveillance
I. PURPOSE
The school board recognizes the value of video/electronic surveillance systems in monitoring activity on leased or owned school district property in furtherance of protecting the health, welfare, and safety of students, staff, visitors, and property.
A videotape will be released only when in conformance with the Minnesota
Government Data Practices Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act, and/or the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder.
II. ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES
The superintendent is directed to prepare administrative guidelines to facilitate implementation of this policy.
The administrative guidelines will include a description of the placement of video surveillance along with clear guidelines on where video surveillance may not occur.
Guidelines will clarify communication of video surveillance procedures as well as communication to the public communication regarding video surveillance in the schools.
