Applications are now available for school year 2020-21 preschool programs at the Central Education Center and all elementary schools. You may apply online or download the forms on this page.
Preschool for 3 year olds: We provide a high-quality experience that will introduce your child to school while igniting a love of learning. Choose from either two half-days or three half-days per week. All sessions are held at the Central Education Center. Children must be 3 years old by September 1 of the school year.
Preschool for 4 year olds: Our focus is to provide your child with a high quality and engaging learning experience to prepare them for kindergarten. Classes meet five days per week at the district elementary schools following the school calendar. Children must be 4 years old by September 1 of the school year.
New 4 Year Old Preschool Pilot Program: An extended preschool day is available this year for a fee. Preschool Plus at Central expands upon the preschool curriculum and schedule with additional enrichment activities each school day.
Our programs follow the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and have been awarded a 4-Star Parent Aware rating.

Priority for preschool classes is given to Richfield school district residents who meet the eligibility requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Education. All completed applications received will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and placed into classes as space permits, or onto the waiting list.
Parent & Child Classes Birth - 5yrs
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a parent education program where parents and children attend class together and also separate for part of the time. Have fun learning with other parents and discussing ages and stages of child development with licensed early childhood and parent education teachers. Payment is based on a sliding fee scale. No families will be turned away due to inability to pay. Classes are held at the Central Education Center or at other locations in Richfield.
Family events and activities are also available as a fun and affordable way to explore and experience the community and meet other families.

Early Childhood Screening
Richfield Early Childhood recommends that children be screened at age 3.
Screening is free, it’s easy and it’s good for your child!
